Parts work based on Internal Family Therapy (IFT)

My background in Clinical Psychology and advanced training in Trauma Therapy have given me the opportunity to train in a variety of therapeutic approaches, which I integrate to best meet the needs of the people I support. Among these, Parts Work has become a central focus of my practice.

Parts Work, rooted in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), views the human mind as a system made up of many different “parts.” These parts are not inherently good or bad—they are valuable aspects of who we are. Each part has developed for a reason, often working hard to protect us from pain or keep us safe. Over time, however, some of these parts may become overactive, stuck, or conflicted, creating difficulties such as anxiety, depression, or inner tension.

In therapy, the goal is to get to know these parts with openness and compassion. By understanding what each part is trying to achieve, we begin to create space for integration—helping you to feel more balanced, centred, and connected to your whole self. This process is not about eliminating parts, but about learning to work with them, so that the energy they once used for protection can be channelled into healthier and more fulfilling ways of living.

When combined with Cognitive and Behavioural techniques, Parts Work can be especially effective for addressing trauma, interpersonal struggles, low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. It offers a pathway toward healing that honours your story, validates the wisdom of your protective parts, and helps you move from inner conflict toward inner harmony.
